In January 2026, Rene Awambeng, Founder and Managing Partner of Premier Invest, conducted an on-the-ground assessment of an integrated edible oil refinery and bottling operation in Angola, as part of Premier Invest’s ongoing engagement with strategic industrial assets across Africa.

The visit focused on gaining first-hand visibility into the facility’s operational performance, governance framework, and expansion potential, with particular attention to its role within Angola’s food security and agri-processing ecosystem.

The refinery operates a fully integrated model, covering intake, refining, bottling, and bulk distribution, and serves both retail and B2B markets. Its product portfolio spans more than 70 SKUs across multiple formats, supplying households as well as local food manufacturers, including biscuit, mayonnaise, and food-processing factories. The facility has demonstrated strong operational discipline, with high utilisation rates, robust health and safety standards, and experienced technical leadership overseeing production.

From a logistics and supply-chain perspective, the site benefits from direct access to port infrastructure, proximity to key industrial zones, and efficient road connectivity linking northern and southern trade corridors. These advantages support both domestic distribution and the scalability of future production volumes. The visit also reviewed ongoing and planned expansion initiatives, including new margarine and shortening lines designed to support downstream food manufacturing and import substitution.

Beyond production capacity, discussions addressed workforce structure, governance, inventory cycles, and working capital dynamics, including the impact of foreign exchange availability on operational planning. Particular emphasis was placed on risk management, supplier discipline, and the importance of aligning financing structures with real operating cycles.

For Premier Invest, this engagement reflects a core principle of its investment and advisory approach: opportunity must be understood in operation, not abstraction. Sustainable investment decisions are grounded in visibility, governance, and execution capability at asset level.

Industrial platforms such as this play a critical role in strengthening local value chains, supporting food security, and enabling resilient trade flows across African markets. Premier Invest continues to engage selectively with projects that demonstrate the operational credibility and governance required to deliver long-term economic impact.
